When I received my NOE 10-cavity 230 gr. 45ACP RN I noted that this design was a little more pointed than my Lyman 452374 design. So after finishing a rifle session at 100 yds, I pulled my 1911 out to try these bullets at 100 yds off a bag rest. Outstanding accuracy! As long as I did everything right, with a little front sight elevation the bullet was right where it was supposed to be. Life is good! Shooting bullet designs @ long range is a tip Veral Smith recommends in his book to assess how accurate/stable the bullet design is. I'm a happy camper with this NOE design and the workmanship of this mould.

This thread is worthless without pics and you should be ashamed to even post such a positive review without some boolit porn to go with it.

I don't have any photos of my 10-cavity, but would assume some are available from NOE. The 10-cavity design has two sprue plates; a sprue plate covers 5 cavities on the top of the mould and a bottom sprue plate covers 5 cavities on the bottom of the mould. You pour the top 5 cavities, let lead solidify, then rotate the mould in your hand and pour the remaining 5 cavities. It's slick and pretty fast! Bottom line? They work very well and the bullet design is very accurate.

I just cast about 30 lb of these last night. Only thing I dont like is the pointy tip gets a little flat when running through the Star. After all warms up and starts moving easier they get better. I havent loaded any yet.

Ddeaton,

When sizing pointy boolits with a Star, I use a "spacer" to push the sized/lubed bullet through the die. This eliminates anything touching the point of the boolit. A boolit of a smaller size that is sufficiently long works well and just drops through with the pointy boolit. It really doesn't add much time to the sizing process.

Don't have a good picture of a 10 cavity.
But do have this one of a 8.

John, good tip. I have a wood dowel about 3/4 inch long and I use it the same way. Actually these sized real nice after everything warmed up and got running well. I am sizing these at .452 and they push through easy. They are dropping with my wheel weight mix about .454-.455.

I was a little disappointed that this one wasn't a 2R nose and went ahead and picked up an older Lyman 452374 which I used to run about 1200 boolits the past week or so.

Today I got out this NOE and decided to start building a supply. This mould gives a much higher percentage of keepers than the Lyman (both are 4 cavity), under five percent culls and I think most of those were early in the session since those boolits were shiny and when I got in the groove they were all coming out frosty. This mould casts so well it reminded me why I like LBTs and H&Gs because they seem to always do the same. Mine drop at .453" on the front band and .4525 on the rear.

I kinda agree with you on this one. I thought this was to be a Gov Roundnose copy. I dont know where the pointy tip came into this design. I see one up for sale on the Sale section now. I didnt keep up with all the threads after I signed up so its my fault. I would like a Round Nose NOE or Mihec mold. For now I will use my old Lee.

Going back and looking at the GB thread
I can see were this buy was a little vague.
This is the picture that was posted and what we ran.

There was also a pictures of a RN (Gov.) bullet posted along with one that has a nose
smaller than the top driving band. This was not a picture of the bullet in the drawing.

If anyone would like to return there mould I have no problems with it at all.

I shoot the HP version with very good results and have found it to be a excellent bullet.

Thanks

Swede, I am ok with keeping the mold. I would like a genuine GI ball copy though. How about a buy on this one?

If you want a genuine GI ball copy, you should look at the H&G #34. Discussing that in this thread.
