I have the Lee mould, but it's a 160, a bit higher than the caliber usually calls for, and I would love to try s cast boolit of 123-139 grains, closer to the j-word originals. Any ideas? Cheap? :-)

NOE 0.314" x 129 gr.

http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=65839

It is the right weight, shape and should be the right diameter for 7.62 x 39.

I got one for my .303. So far it is doing pretty well. I did have to lap it a bit due to my oversize bore though. Not the fault of the mould though.

Not cheap I guess but well worth the money and the mould casts beautifully. Unfortunately it doesn't look like NOE has any left over so maybe not such a good suggestion.

Maybe you can find someone nearby that got one to cast you a few boolits to try. If they work well for you, you might get NOE to do another small group buy.

Just a thought.

Look for a LY 311410. 130 gr SP bevel based or flat based.

NOE does small group buys, post on the group buy discussion area. You'd only need 4 others, might be a long wait though, as in maybe next spring.

I have one of the NOE 0.314" x 129 gr. molds that I would sell to you. PM me if you are interested. I am in Tempe, AZ so you can see it first if you like.

Thanks
Brett

I have a SAECO that I plan to use in the 7.62x39.

PM sent, thank you. IIRC, I am sizing to .311/.312, that wouldn't be an issue with the NEA design? (I can't remember, and my Lee push through sizer is at home, shhh, posting from work! *furtive looking over shoulders*)
SAECO? Don't know that one, what weight/design?

Sizer is .311, found out. Still need some sizer lube...
Hopefully will have that mould soon, thank you sir! Now I just need to find some Lee 6 cavity mould handles...

Lyman 311008 drops a 115 grain rnfp boolit that was intended for the 32-20. The ones that I've seen dropped a raw boolit that was big enough to size at .3125". The meplat on that is a little big. I'm not sure how well it would feed in one of the autoloaders that take the 7.62 x 39. Also, it's plain base, so you probably can't push it all that hard. It would probably make a nice plinker for bolt guns or single shots in that caliber.

Randall's in Glendale stocks lube. So does Cabellas.

I have been using Hornady one Shot to lubeboolits prior to sizing. I have sized Lee TLs from .360 to .356 before with no issues, so this probably will work, we'll see. This one is 130 grain, so I think we'll do OK. Gonna order handles from Midway when the payday fairy visits again.
I'm told this one will work with gas checks, so I think this will be an improvement over what I've been using, but if it doesn't worjk well in the vz-58, it might be the bees knees in the CZ 527. We'll see. :)

Got the mould today, thank you very much, Brett T/C, +1 for good to do business with!
Handles may be in tomorrow, hopefully, so I can go fire up the pot late tomorrow or early Thursday!

I finally remembered to look at the SAECO mold number, it is 254.

Thanks. :) Handles came in as I was beginning my barbeque. Since barbeque involves the consumption of at least one adult beverage, no casting or loading today, safety's sake. However, once my son goes out the door to school in the morning, Katy bar the door, 'cause that pot is going ON!

Hmm, forgot to ask, any data for this bullet, and Accurate 1680, H4895 or H335?

Hmm, forgot to ask, any data for this bullet, and Accurate 1680, H4895 or H335?

Of the powders you listed I would probably start with something like 18 grains of AA1680 and work your way up from there.

18.0 grains of WW680 cycles the action fine in my Norinco SKS with the Lee 1552R bullet.

I have gone as high as 20 grains with that powder which was safe but then I ran out.

I figured i could use the heavier bullet data, was hoping someone had some direct experiance, but I will start about there. Thanks.

18 grains of 1680 with the Lee boolit is my best load in my CZ 527. I have very limited experience with that load in my Remington Spartan and SKS as of now but it shows promise. Our range has just closed due to highway construction so testing is over until at least the first of November. Neil

BUMMER! Sorry to hear of that, sir.
Just turned the pot on...time for some casting goodness!
