Hi guys, this is my first post so I hope I'm in the right spot. I'm new to casting and swaging but I'm picking it up pretty quickly, thanks to this and many other forums.

My question is this:

What is lead wire worth for swaging? I've seen around $5/lb in 10 lb rolls of varying diameter. Are there better prices? If I use my hydraulic press to extrude my own could what could I sell what I don't use for?

Thanks for the help guys!

To most of us it would be just lead ( $0.75 or so) and a lot of swadgers cast blanks as a way around high priced wire.
Not trying to be discouraging but , if you read these forums , you will see that most reloaders are the tightest wadded people on earth and very resourceful at being thrifty.

$5.00 per pound is way too high unless you are in a fairly high production commercial venture - but if that were the case ya could prolly find it considerably less expensive than that.

Rotometals gets $109 per 25# Thats $4.36 per pound.
If I couldn't cast slugs for swadging , I just would not swadge anything at that price.

So all in all if you really need lead wire , that seems to be the going rate.
