I have about 200 lbs of pure lead. I found plumbers tin solder(96%tin,0.5 copper and a little silver). Can I use this product to mix with my lead to make it harder. If so what would be the ratio.
Thanks

Jeff,

You might want to read http://www.lasc.us/CastBulletNotes.htm Short answer is yes, depending on how much hardening you want.

Bigbuckjeff, As Sam stated it will help some but not alot as tin alone after about 2% will do nothing more. It's best job is that it helps with mold fillout so that your bullets are the same as the mold. For any more hardness you will need antimony. You can use shotshell shot or another lead alloy to obtain this. Go to the sticky section of this forum and look for the LASC section. Read all the articles by Glen Fryxell. You did not say what you are trying to achieve and therefore it would be impossible to help you any futher. The threads that I sent you to have several alloys and how to mix for them. Later David
