I am considering getting my "Black hawk" 45LC drilled and tapped for a 1" scope (Ultra Dot 4). Has anyone had any problems with getting there BH tapped for a scope or anything that I should have done or look out for?

My SBH has been drilled and tapped for a Leupold mount for a long time now.

Greetings
I have seen numerous 41 mag and 45 colts and the owners have no problems. My 45 Colt is tapped and had sevral hundred heavy loads fired through it.

I had my SBH drilled and tapped for a Weigand mount and then mounted a 4X Leupold. I'm a believer, I thoroughly enjoy mine. I've been pondering doing this to more of my handguns. I would prefer the Ultradot(I've got one on 686 and a Ruger Mk III). I haven't had any issues with the install other than the aprehension of someone drilling holes in my pistol.

I D&T'd my gp100 .357 years ago for the Weigand mount and also my SBH .44 mag. I have dots on both of them and have had no problems at all. The GP has had about 6 or 7K 1200 fps Keiths and the .44 maybe 500 mags and a thousand or so specials through it. On a whim before I D&Td the .44 I glued the Weigand mount on with Pro-Seal (a 2 part aircraft caulk) and mounted a $30. dot on it. I then fired 50 rds of 429421 @1300 fps and surprisingly the mount held, although all the screws or caulk does is hold the mount down on the gun. The recoil is absorbed by a shoulder on the back of the mount. I just did it to see if it would work and then took it off and D&Td it.

Thanks fecmech, that makes me feel somewhat better.

Consider trading it out for a Ruger that has scope mounts already.

I have Ultradot 30mm on my Ruger Single Six 22rf /22 mag. Low recoil for sure but the Ultradot and the Weigand mount is top quality.I need my 657 drilled and tapped. I may try a shop in Topton Pa. near me

I have about half of my many Ruger single actions scope mounted. Never a problem. My scope of preference is the Leupold 2X pistol scope, blue or silver.
Old eyes require some help and I'll take all I can get.
