I have been casting straight WW for my 357, and pure soft lead for my REAL boolits. Okay here is the question. I am getting a 300-452 sabot mold from BRP and He suggested casting 50/50 WW and PB in this mold. My question is is the 50 50 ratio by weight or is there a sure fire way to guess or at least guess and be close enough. I don't own a scale. I have keep the ww separate from my soft lead. and it smelted ready to cast. These boolits are going into a mmp sabot and shot out of my omega X7.

Thanks

If your bullet metals are in ingots, just add an equal number of each type ingots to the melt to get a 50/50 alloy.

Thanks I was thinking in that direction but wanted to make sure before I cast a bunch and mess it up.

If you're going to seriously get into casting, you're going to need some scales.

I suggest hitting the thrift shops and look for some baby scales. Mine go to 25 pounds, and are amazingly accurate.

My pure are in 1lb ingots and my WW are in 2lb, I do 2 to 1, figure they are close enough.

Do need to do some expansion tests with my 200gr 45 Mihec HP boolits with that alloy though.

You can buy 50lb postal scales off of flea bay for under $30. If you stay in casting you will need one for weighing alloys to lead purchase from another person. A scale and a hardness tester are tools that you need to make life much easier.
