Shot my glock 17 with my new lone wolf barrel today with lead. The front of the frame was eroded at the bottom. What in the world caused it? I have not had a problem with anything else. My sr9 has several thousand rounds of lead through it with no problems.

I would really like to see a photo if possible. I shoot a Glock 17 in IDPA sometimes and have an aftermarket barrel on it. Now I have to go home and look for any erosion issues. By the way, I'm a Glock armorer and have never heard of or seen any erosion issues. You may be on to something new. What was the load etc?

Here are the pictures. Used a hard cast bullet from Lee mold using wheel weight material over 4 grs Imr pb powder.

Judging from all the 'erosion' lines running horizontally and the 'pock' marks at the bottom right, I'd say you scratched it while the slide was off.

I don't believe that the damage is from firing the gun. There is no damage to the end of the guide rod nor is there wear to the front of the slide.

Nothing to do with firing the gun. Abrasion, chemicals, puppy.

Red Herring alert. This has nothing to do with firing the pistol.
