The title of the thread is a bit vague. What I am wondering is this- for accuray loads in 45 auto 1911's do you find that different powders give best accuracy at different velocities or is there a velocity window for different bullets that seems to deliver best accuracy?

For instance, with an HG 130 and Win 231 what velocity range is most likely to give best accuracy? With a different powder is a load giving similar velocity likely to give best accuracy with that powder?

This is a question for this specific firearm and looking only for accuracy. I understand that many firearms may give accuracy at different velocities with different boolits.

I find, 750 to 850 fps is a good accuracy window for me.

I get best accy with lighter loads, about 3.5 Bullseye or Titegroup work extremely well
for me. Use matched (same maker and lot) brass. 452460 is the most accurate for me.

I have found 4.9 grains of Bullseye paired with a 230 grain LRN to be about the best shooting cartridge out there. If I drop the charge too much the accuracy tapers off.

when i still owned a ransom rest i did a test with my 1911 BE pistol range was 25 yards i loaded 10 shots with 1/2 grain increments in powder charge starting with 3.5 of B. E. to 5.0 of B.E. with a saeco #062 200 gr bullet all loads shot extremely well. with the 3.5 charge being the absulate most accurate. after taking down the target board i reliazed i had left a target on the board where all the the targets had been placed over for the test giving me a composit of all 4 loads tried for a 40 shot group the group size was 1 3/4 inches for this test at least
