View Full Version : Need Lyman Little Dandy Rotors

I was recently given a Lyman Little Dandy measure but I only have the two rotors that came with it. I approached a local machine shop who gave me a bid of over $50.00 each to turn me out some blank ones, and I do not have access to a lathe. The rotors are an in-between size. No bar stock that size is available. Any help out there? Will RCBS rotors work? Thanks - Goboom

Are you sure it a Lyman? Little Dandy is made by RCBS.

The Little Dandy is an RCBS product. The rotors come up on ebay often. There was at one time an adjustable rotor made, very rare to find, that was the answer to the rotor problem.

Lyman did make and market its own version of a Li'l Dandy, I don't remember what it was called. I remember looking and comparing and I liked its looks better than the RCBS unit. I have used a Bonanza Pistol Powder measure for 40 years with total satisfaction, same principal, only handier than the RCBS.

Midway has them for $11.99.

Ther stock rotors are carried by several stores. Why not find one in your area and see if they will fit.

I bought an adjustable rotor for Little Dandy from one of our members named Bailey Boat. He manufactured them. I like mine and was happy to find it.

Is it the RCBS product or is it the Lyman product?? A contradiction of terms exists in this thread.

Lyman had one with "powder rotors" call the Pistol AccuMeasure.

:hijack: Now that we are all discussing and wondering about the original poster's intent and going off in other directions based on our own interpretations of it, I will state that I own both the Little Dandy and the Accu-Measure with complete sets of their respective (fixed) rotors, but would be interested in finding out about Bailey Boat and his adjustable rotor for either or both of these measures. :coffeecom

I'm interested in buying 1 of the adj. rotors for the RCBS Little Dandy Powder Measure.

I sent Bailey Boat a PM, 4 days ago, I've heard nothing from him. Does anyone have a phone number for Bailey Boat, an Email address, etc. so that I can reach him ? I've searched the internet for a phone number...I can't find one.

Ben,

If and when you find out anything from Bailey Boat, please post here so we can all benefit. I wouldn't mind having an adjustable rotor for my Li'l Dandy or my Accumeasure either, for that matter! :coffee:

I thought that some of you might like to see what you're buying :
By the way, the Rotor Knob on the stainless model you see
below is the RCBS factory part selling for about $5.00, it fits
both rotors and tightens up with a set screw.

Here is a link to the part :

Ben, you're quite the photographer!!!! I have never seen the Lyman equivilent of the Little Dandy so I can't speak to it's abilities but if someone wants to send me one of the Lyman rotors (to be returned) I'll see what can be done to make an adjustable unit.

At the time I did these comparisons these were all of the powders I used.....

Powder............ minimum......... maximum
Bullseye........... 2.1................ 11.0
Unique............. 1.7................ 9.5
HP 38.............. 2.6................ 13.0
Power Pistol...... 2.5................ 13.6
Green Dot......... 1.3................ 8.2

Holler if you need additional info....

Hey Bailey Boat, did you ever get a Lyman Accu-Measure rotor to check the possibility of making your adjustable rotor for that as well? There were a bunch of leftover units sold on fleaBay that had no or only a couple of rotors included and few if any seem to be available. I would still be interested, especially if I could get down into the 1.5-1.7 grain Bullseye range.

Froggie

Froggie, I've never seen one of the rotors from the Lyman unit so I don't know what mods would be required. If someone wants to send me one for comparison I'll make sure to get it back to the sender. It's worth a look at least....

Bill White—- I’m interested in one of the adjustable rotars for the Little Dandy. Are you still making them? If so, what’s the best way to buy one please?
Many thanks

According to his profile Bailey Boat was last on the Boolits forum in early March of ‘19 so I would utilize his contact info he gave that is on page one of this thread to quicken his response. I would say it is very likely he is still in business on these from reading the entire thread and his response from the near past in the fall of ‘18.

Enjoy

When last I spoke with Bailey Boat he was in the process of changing machinists. I'm going to guess that he should be back up and running by now, and even if he's not shipping quite yet, I expect he would like to hear from you if you are thinking of ordering one of his adjustable rotors for the Little Dandy. We were also discussing the possibility of a similar unit for the Lyman Accu-Measure, but he didn't think there would be enough demand to make it worthwhile to tool up for such a limited number that were made.
