Found some gas checks today, and upon looking at my treasures, the box of 35 caliber are all brass colored. Did lyman sell brass checks? How old would these be? Now for the best part...... half box of these 35,s almost full box of hornady .44,s and a full box of hornady .22,s all for the grand total of 7 bucks!! Once in a great while i get lucky, HA!

I've got some Lyman checks that are over 20 yrs old and are brass. I think Lyman used brass when they made their own. They don't stay on as well as the crimp on type. I had one come off my 30-06 and made a hole in a plastic storm window about 20 degrees to the left and 15 ft from my line of sight.

Could have been worse, a friend had one come off and go through the front of his chrono.
After I heard about that, I made a shield of Lexan to attach to the front of my chrono, 2 years ago.
2 weeks ago, a gas check nicked the shield!
