Anyone have experience with the new TC Hot Shot .22LR youth gun? Looks like a scaled down Encore Carbine. I'm considering one for my grandson.

Long ago and far away, when I was a young lad, my Grandad gave me a Remington #4 Rolling Block .22, with which I learned gun safety and how to shoot. It is light weight, but heavy enough to feel like a rifle and not wander all over the target. It is a take-down, so it is easy to clean and transport. Being a single-shot, it taught me the value of that 1st shot when hunting, as I couldn't just keep pulling the trigger until the game dropped or I ran out of bullets. Today, many decades later, it is still as accurate as it was when new, with sharp rifling and a shiny bore. The only thing that has deteriorated in this combo is my eyesight, which doesn't have sharpness any more.

I can't think of a finer gun for a young lad or girl to get them started in the shooting sports game. They are available in all conditions from good pry bar to one like mine. If taken care of properly, they will last for generations. Check Gunbroker, completed auctions, to see the ranges and prices in today's market.

I'll be following the boards on how well they are. I've been looking at getting youth .22LR for my grandson. Started thinking about the Cricket since I got one for my youngest back around 97' or so. Looking to see what else is available. Won't be till Christmas or next Jul when I get home to buy it however. No longer in group as I've retired and contracting down range. I did spend 2 yrs at SWTG, 6 yrs with 1/10th SFG in Germany and 16 yrs with 1/5th SFG.

Thanks for you service, group was my ultimate goal, so I jumped on every school that I could and worked like a mule, then got a spinal injury. LIfe is such tho, Thanks for your service, It takes a lot of work to get to where youve been.

T/C hot shot, supposed to retail for just over 200, so im guessing you can get one for cheaper.

My oldest son decided to follow my footsteps also and gradulated Special Forces Qualification Course and Combat Diver Qualification Course. He goes back to Iraq for his 4th trip next month. This rifle would be for his son (also has another on the way).

Congrats to your son, not an easy task, it is definatly something that takes imense intestinal fortitude. No need to be sorry for me, I knew well the risk going in, and I'm being taken care of after the fact. All is fair, and we are still far ahead of the hadjies when it comes to bodycount! All the way!
As for the T/C I now have to have one. If I can just convince my father to buy one for my kid, and of course I will break it in for her for the next several years untill she is old enough.
Let me know if there is anything I can send you or your son to make your stay a little more comfortable.

Combat diver is no joke either, from what I hear. I have never done it, but those I've talked to that have, say its one of the army's toughest schools.

Awsome! congratulations! I noticed that there are none on gun broker so I am going to order one to put on there, and one for myself. Another good deal I found is Tikka t3 lite in 338 fed. from the same distributor that has the t/c's and they are on clearance for $360!
