After a month or more of phone calls to a lady who had a printers furnace for sale on craigslist, I was finally able to arrange to meet her after she had agreed to sell just the lead without the furnace. In her garage she had +/- 100 lbs in loose type and ingots. Then she says, "I'm not sure, but I think there might be some more lead in the basement". As we are poking around and finding quite a bit more type, she says "Oh my goodness, look over here". In a back room are 35 lino ingots of 20-25 lbs each. All told, I bought about 500 lbs of type and about 700 pounds of ingots. It turns out that her father made pretty much all of the postcards in 5 or more states in the Northern Midwest back in the 60's through 80's. She made a lot more money selling me just the lead than she was originally asking for the furnace.
