Does anyone have a good gunsmith that could shorten a SRH barrel, and approximant cost? I’m very close in getting a 480 Ruger but really don’t want a 7 ½” barrel or a 9 ½”, would prefer a 5 ½ “or 6”. Just feeling out the waters for what it could cost me to have a SRH shortened up.

Thanks Robert

Quick turnaround and very reasonable. I have one as well that I am going to shorten, but I'll probably end up doing it myself. Still have to order a 90 deg crowning tool to go with my 11 deg and a 480 pilot. Then I have to decide which sight to use.

I've heard someone along the way mention SRH barrels are "glued" (loctite?) into place. Any truth to this?

I too have heard the Super Redhawk barrels have loctite under that shroud. I think removing the barrel requires heat

They do have sealant, but it wll release at 350F or so, really no big deal.
