I have been reading here for months and need something cleared up for me. I have my WW and am going to check each one with a cutter so I know I have lead. I will try to keep the temp. down Here is the question,, once the pot is all melted do you scim off the clips, dross and crud BEFORE you flux??? From what I have read there is little tin in it anyway. Thanks

If I have large chunks of not lead in the melt, I grab them out pre-flux if it is convenient. The Moly-99 pigs have two brass fittings in them, and I usually get those out before I flux.

This is primarily a safety issue. Those large chunks of metal can do funny things sometimes during the stir phase of fluxing in my experience. Others mileage may vary.

In the end, it probably doesn't matter much.

If you flux before skimming, your clips come out cleaner. That tells me I am leaving more tin & antimony in the pot.
