Now you all know I got me a 32-20 Marlin last week. Well today I purchased me a 25-20 Marlin to go with it! I'm in heaven guys! I will need load info for it also. Now I do have a problem with having 2 little Marlins. Which one gets to shoot me some squirrels first??? lol

I only had a pair of Marlin 1894's in 25-20 .

The first was a 1894CL and the other was an original circa 1902 . I had good luck with both shooting the Lyman 257312 , thats an 88 grain GC mold .

Like the 32-20 I generally shot this one with 5 grains of Unique .

I had the Lyman 257420 also and again 5 grains Unique .

Amazingly enough both loads would knock over the Pistol Hunter rams at 100 meters !

I believe you are single handedly keeping the eceonomy of the USA afloat. Thank you.

I beleive in your 32-20 post you mentioned 1400fps, you may find that overkill on squirrels.

Well I don't remember talkin bout no 1400 fps (think that was suggested tho) but we DO have mity big an tough squirrels here in PA! :kidding: The uses I have for those 2 little rifles don't require hotrodding.

Goat Keeper--

I'm another WCF crank with 1894 Marlins in 25-20 and 32-20. They may take a bit of shooting-in before they settle down. My 25-20 took about 750 rounds, more than half being j-words (Speer 75 FP), then it got real. The 32-20 took about 600, half being j-words, before it got religion.

I use Lymans #257420 (72 gr. FP/GC), #257312 (88 gr. FP/GC), and RCBS-85-CB (86 gr. plain-base) in the 25-20. The first two boolits have some test loads sitting and awaiting range trials, using AA-1680. The plain-base has some loads using Trail Boss and Unique on deck.

IMR-4198 has been good in the 25-20 for full-tilt loads with both of the gas-check boolits. 3.0 grains of Red Dot did some EXCELLENT work with the RCBS plain-base, using small pistol primers. I think the hammer fall's sound was louder than the shot's report. :) But drive tacks they do!

The 32-20 dotes on 10.0-11.0 grains of 2400 and Lyman #311316. Small rifle primers in Starline cases here, which are a CONSIDERABLE upgrade from the R-P and W-W 32-20 hulls. The only difference between the 10 grain and 11 grain load is that the stronger one hits 1-1/4" higher at 100 yards. Groups with both loads run 1.75" at 100 yards, using the factory CAS buckhorns.

Thanks for the additional load information 9.3! That Lyman #311316 has been mentioned before by others. Me thinks I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and get me one. DANG these Marrlins are costing me money! lol
