A friend gave me some mystery metal, he just called it lead. It rings like a bell in ingot form and stays liquid (somewhat slushy) down to about 325 deg F. I cast some in a Lee .357 RNFP 158 gr mold and they were perfect bullets and very shiny and weighed approx 142-143 grs. This same mold casts WW's at 159-160 grs and a 50/50 mix of WW/lino at 155-154 grs. I'm guessing this might be a tin based babbit, anyone have any ideas??

could possibly be monotype.

I melt a lot of babbit and I will get that slush lot. I would be curious what the hardeness is of the boolits. I have a problem getting straight babbit to expand and seal the bore, thus leading. So I used it as a hardener in my alloys.
