anyone shot lymans 311410 in the 30/30. at 130 gr. it seems that it would be a ideal plinking bullet or small game bullet in a bolt action. i cant seem to find much on loads. i was thinking some unique, but how much is what i cant answer. thanks in advance for any info.

sabbatus, I haven't got there yet but my plans are to load some similar bullets, 311576, in a 30-30 using Trailboss Powder. I've had good luck using this powder and cast boolits in several other calibers as have some of my friends. The formula for Trailboss powder weight is pretty simple. Mark the max seating depth on the outside of the case and fill with Trailboss to that mark. Weigh the powder and use 70% of that weight as a start load and work up. Under no circumstances compress Trailboss powder! This could lead to extreme pressures. My standard disclaimer: This data works in MY rifles with MY boolits. Your results may vary. Consult the appropriate reloading guides for confirmation. Start low and work up. RD

I've loaded the 311316 boolit (gaschecked), sized to .310, using 7.5 gr. Unique. With my wheelweight/lead mix it casts out around 120 grains. This load's a nice plinker out to about 75 yd (and probably more) out of a post-64 Winchester 94 "truck gun". I've never tried other powders or loads with that particular boolit, but your boolit is weightwise in the same ballpark. I looked in the Lyman 1973 Cast Bullet Handbook, and there's a picture of your boolit in the back--but no loading info in 30-30. You might check other loading books to see if you can find any data for a 130 grain boolit in 30-30 to go by.

Start with about seven grains of Unique and work up until it goes fast enough for you. Max should be 11 grains or so, but work up from seven carefully.
