Crimping for the Win '94 Ammo

I'm just about to start loading .32 Win Spl for this '94 rifle and I was wondering what
kind of crimp these cartridges need. Does the tubular magazine dictate a roll crimp?
If so, how heavy a crimp? Thanks,

Yes it requires a crimp. Lee factory crimp die if one is available, or a good roll crimp.
Just enough crimp to prevent the boolit from being pushed deeper in the case.

Get a Lee Factory Crimp die they work wonders. Just did a search you would have to have Lee make a custom one but they will make ya one and it is not that expensive.

Factory Crimp Dies

RIFLE:

A Custom Factory Crimp Die for rifle cartridges can be made for any cartridge with a bullet diameter up to .458 inch and a maximum outer diameter at the base of .580.

We need:

1. Payment of $29.00 ($25.00 + $4.00 processing fee)
2. Dummy cartridge (a bullet seated in an empty case)

Rifle Factory Crimp Dies are cartridge specific and there are a few that cannot be made. Any handgun case that is of a bottleneck design qualifies because the die would have to be made much like the rifle factory crimp dies but we do not make die bodies shorter than that you would find on a .223 Remington. Examples would be the 30 Mauser, 7.62 x 25 and the .357 Sig. The 50 AE also applies because the case is too short for the die bodies available.

I rely on neck tension more than the crimp to prevent bullet set back. The crimp is mostly just insurance.
For jacketed bullets I've found the crimp ring in the seater die to work just fine. My Lee FCD is hit or miss depending on which brand of bullets I'm using. However the FCD works great for cast bullets.

Bought a LEE factory crimp die for $15 dollars at local CABALAS sporting goods (Unfortunately only 5 minutes away) Works GREAT Glenn

Looking in Midways Catalog they don't show a Lee FCD for the 32 Special. Some one here on this site said that he uses a 30-30 Lee FCD to crimp 32 Sp. I have one of those so I went out to give it a try and it works just fine. If you feel that it gives a little to much crimp just back it off a little

:oops::oops::oops:My fault,. Yes i did use the .30 WCF fcd die to crimp my friends .32 special. My error in not being more diligent in my reply. Anyways, it works great

Lee Factory Crimp Die, if I don't get one in the die set, I buy one straight up. Excellent bit of kit.

Went with a slight roll crimp. Seemed to work just fine.
