I'm looking for a Lee mould for my Remington 700 in .308 Winchester.

Do any of you have any advice for the most accurate design / weight in a Lee mould for this cartridge / bullet?

Slug your barrel and throat, then decide. I am using Lee's 312-185, sized to .311" in a Parker-Hale 7.62mm NATO take off barrel on a 98 Mauser.

I've had real good luck with the 150-grain flat point in a .30-30. Accuracy is better than factory ammo at 2300fps. That would probably be an OK boolit for short range use in a .308, but depending on your intended purpose, you may do better with one of the heavier round noses.

What are you planning to use these for & what twist is your barrel?

I have had good luck with the Lee C309-160-R in my .308 Winchester.

They also work well in 30/06 and in a bolt action 30/30.

With 12 grains of Unique these make a good tin can load.

I've found both the 312-185-2R and the 309-200-1R quite satisfactory in either of my .308s. My McGowan-barreled M700 (1-10 twist) really likes the 200-grainer over 26.5 gr of H4198...consistently produces 1 1/2" 10-round groups @ 100M.

I like the Lee 185 in my '06. It's the most accurate bullet I've tried. Here's a group fired at 100 yds. (top right is the load I've settled on).

I get 1-1 1/2" groups with a C309-160-R loaded with Unique or 3031.
