does any one cast with a H&G #34 mold? it is the 230 gr rn bb 45 acp bullet. if you do and like the rn bullet, is there any other 45 rn bullet mold you would rather have instead of the #34 one? i have one and to me all other 45 rn bullets are not as good as the #34 bullet.

I have a four cavity H&G #34 that I bought new in the 1970's for IPSC shooting. It's a wonderful mold to use and the bullets function flawlessly through every 1911 I've used them in.

My alloy was straight "crimp-on" wheel weights. I have used several powder charges behind them over the years but around 5 grs. of W-W 231 was the one I shot most. Sorry, can't remember the exact powder charge right now.

I haven't used the number thirty-four but I have sent a lot of the H&G number two ninety-two downrange . It's a two hundred thirty grain flat nose shaped like the Hornady bullet . I bought the mold for hunting with the forty-five but didn't ever use it much for that .... targets got chewed up instead .

Never used the H&G 34, but Lyman 452374 is a good one.

This design is supposed to duplicate the GI shape and weight....and it does so very well, It is remarkably similar to the RCBS version. I have a four cavity and it is an absolute pleasure to cast with. It feeds and shoots reliably with good accuracy. My loading is 4.0-4.1 grains of Red Dot in a 1911-A1, Gold Cup and two revolvers. Sized .451, burns clean, no leading, moderate recoil. LLS
