I just use my 32 longs for plinking and targets. Load the Hornady 90gr HBWC with 1.5gr Bullseye or 1.7gr of 700x. Don't go with heavy loads with a HBWC it will blow the skirt of the boolit off.
Used to shoot a lot of HBWC in 38 spec with 2.7 to 2.8gr of bullseye. Started loading more powder and at 3.3 or 3.4gr of bullseye started shooting all over the place and was getting a lot of lead at the barrel/cylender gap. Think I was blowing some of the lead off the base of the boolit. Several friends that I shot with had the same results.

Are these 32 SWL WCs going to be run in a revolver--or in a target autopistol? Data varies between the handgun types. In the autopistols, velocity should be kept under 750 FPS, and under 725 FPS is better. Revolvers can be run a slight bit hotter, but never over 800 FPS or the skirt-blowing as described above is likely.

The Hornady Manual (4th Ed.) gives data for their 90 grain HBWC, fired through a 3" revolver barrel. In my experience a 6" revolver barrel yields about 15% more velocity, as does a 5.5" or 7" autopistol barrel.

Bullseye--1.6 grains/550 FPS MAX 2.0 grains/700 FPS

WW-231--1.8 grains/550 FPS MAX 2.5 grains/700 FPS

Unique----1.7 grains/550 FPS MAX 2.5 grains/750 FPS

HP-38------1.4 grains/550 FPS MAX 1.9 grains/700 FPS

I've used a lot of the Speer and Hornady 98 and 90 gr HBWCs in the .32L in both my M31 S&W and Ruger SS 32 H&R along with numerous other S&Ws. With the Speer 98 gr bullets I use 2.1 gr Bullseye for excellent accuracy out of most every revolver. Velocity is 725 fps out of the 3" M31 and right at 800 fps out of the 6 1/2" Ruger. The Hornady 90 gr HBWC has slightly thicker skirts with a smaller cavity and takes 2.7 gr Bullseye for 872 fps out of the M31. Any heavier loads blows the skirts as mentioned by others. Out to 25 yards both are very accurate but I suggest you start at 1.5 gr Bullseye and work up to see what the max is for your .32L revolver as there has been some tipping of the bullets at 25 yards of the above loads in some revolvers, notably those with cylinder throats larger than .312.
