I've been asked about some of the work I've done to some of my moulds. So I took a pic here:

All these are Lyman moulds.
Top left is a 429215 that I milled the top of the mould until the gas check disapeared. The resulting boolit weighs 185 out of half wheel weights half pure. I wanted a lighter boolit for a Charter Arms .44 Bulldog, which I don't even own! It's a sickness I tell ya.
Top right is my copy of the 462560. Big dang boolit, cast out at 530 grains or so. Was a checked mould. I liked the meplat (flat on the nose) but had no need for a check so I did the same thing to it that I did to the 429215. Boolits cast of 50/50 ( wheel weights/pure lead) come out right at 500 grains. Nice.
Lower right is a 358156. Originally a checked mould. I was looking for a mould for an ancient .38 S&W with a bore of .361, throats of .362 and about 140 grains. I prefer a Keith style usually. This mould cast pure lead at .363! I could hardly beleive it. So I milled of the top of the mould 'till the check was gone. Happy boy!
The lower left is a 457124, very old Ideal design for the .45-70. It's nice, but I do like a flat on a boolit and of course this mould was a round nose. So I drilled it out and made a plug that is held in with a single screw. The boolit cast out of (of course) 50/50 weighs about 15 grains less than it used to, 385.
All this work was done on Sherline(.com) equipment by the by. Not all that tough to do, I'm not a machinist I'm an electrician.
Hope this is of some interest and answers your questions Boom Boom! :)
