MY BIL and I were talking this morning and he had aquirred a selection of molds a couple years ago that he has no idea what they are or what they fit.

We spent a few minutes going over the bullet mold chart in the sticky's section and I.D.'d all of them.

He is sending me a list of those he has no use for. However two completely escape me as to what they fit.

First is a Lyman / Ideal 450225. This is a 170 grain dual grease groove round nose design. Because of the 450 designation I'm thinking this might be for some of those wierd Webley or Tranter rounds from the late 1890's / early 1900's?

It is a single cavity mold and it will be looking for a home soon!

It is listed on the Lyman chart in the stickies if you wish to go look.

The second mold is a Lyman / Ideal 403169 240 grain SWC the 403 part throws me off but this might be for a 41 magnum??? Looks like a Kieth design??

Again this is a single cavity mold and it will be looking for a home as soon as I figure out what it fits!

Again this is listed in the lyman mold chart if your interested.

For right now I'm just looking for information on what they fit.

I could be mistaken, but I believe the 450225 was for 44 caliber cap and ball revolvers like the Remington 58.

Not sure about teh 403169. Too small for the 41 mag, probably for one of the older 40 caliber black powder cartridges. Billy

Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook #1 lists the 403169 as the standard Winchester bullet for the 40-65, 40-82 an 40-110. Billy

The .403169 is a .446 diameter bullet for the .40 caliber rifle. It is not a swc it is a flat point.

And the 450225 is a (I think .451 diameter) and it was a popular bullet for the old Colt Dragoon.

My BIL sent me the whole load of molds to look at and or repair.

A few are missing sprue plate or screws. The 450225 looks interesting but needs screws to put it back together.

I don't get how some people have to take everything apart to get it to go back in the same box it came assymbled in???

I learned long ago that's how you loose parts!

the #403169 can also be used in the Herters 401 Power Mag, set in at the last lube groove.
