I can't seem to find this anywhere...did not call NEF yet. Does anyone know the rate of twist for the Handi 444 Marlin barrel?

When I got mine, H&R said it was a 1 in 20 twist IIRC. Their .44 mag. barrel was 1 in 38 twist like the marlin levers, so I didn't get one of them and make a .445 barrel out of it (darn).

1 in 20 is correct. I really like mine.

Okay, 1 in 20!!! That is great. Also great to know that a firearms company actually listens to shooters.

Just a footnote. I sent my SB2 frame in a few months ago to have a .444 barrel fitted. It was back to me in just over 4 wks., fits like a Swiss watch. It is 20" twist and so far shoots better than I expected and it's not even broken in. They went thru my frame without consulting me and replaced just about everything, no charge. The trigger feels better now. I did have problems with that frame before when using a factory fitted .223 barrel on it, misfires. That's no longer happening, so I guess they knew what they were doing. I'm spending most of my available time working on milsil projects right now due to the type of matches I like to shoot, but will go to work on the H&R .444 in a couple months. I'm even planning a black powder load for it.
