i have a custom NM rifle w/ a krieger SS bbl, mc millan stock, weaver 16x scope etc etc that my son and i competed w/back in the 80's at ft. bliss. question is, can this gun be used w/cast boolits? will they feed outta the mags and the slugs work the action? if so which mold, powder, load etc should i be looking at? i am not looking for a 600-1000 yd. round, but for plinking out to 100-200 yds would be fun. will leading plug up the gas port? any and all infor. is appreciated. thanks!!

I use 4895, 2520, H414 in my M1A NM and Polytek M14S that has been reworked. @28gr 4895 under 150ish boolit. I run up to 220gr boolits with lite loads of slow for the gas gun powder. I have never found any lead in the gas system! I have a 150gr Lee that shoots very well and a 160 wfn LBT that shoots good too. The 311284 shoots good too but I have to load it with gas check below neck. No problems from this but I know some will not shoot these so loaded. Also shoot M1 Garand with cast.
