as alot of poeple are asking about these so i have stepped up for the 323 caliber. i use these alot so this benefits me also. i know that the price is dependent upon quanity and the material prices. i know there was alot of these sold last time, so hopefully we will get a fair order ready. i know there is alot of stuff involved in this. i still need to get the contact info for the gc guy. and some shipping info. hopefully we can get this going. please remember that this is not for poeple that need them right away. these gator gas checks are really nice and fit on the 323 really well. i have had nothing but good luck with them. so please lets start with the numbers so we can see what we have to work with. lets do this for 2 weeks just to see what we get. please either pm me or post here. please put or zip and the amount you need so i can compile a running list.

I know that the gator checks didn't fit well on a .41 gb that we did last year.
I am needing some gas checks for my Lyman and a gb mould (both in 8mm), do you know if the gator checks have been tried with these? If so, I'll be in on this.

Thanks

felix

On the 41 checks, you must measure your shanks at the very end on your hardened boolits which are ready to size. Whatever that shank size is will determine which flavor of check needed. There are three 41 sizes. The largest is the 410P1 which is the typical Lyman at .397 max shank size. The next smaller one is 416R which is .393 max shank size. The last one is 410P2 which is a heavy duty check for the 41 mag, and will fit custom molds having a shank of .378 or smaller. The large 410P1 is a paper thin check by necessity. ... felix

Before we get carried away with this, I will be the ordering guy again. I will write a computer program to handle the input from everyone. When the computer program is ready, I will so indicate. The computer will ask for the normal stuff required. Upon closing date for a caliber, the composite order will be placed by me with Larry, the Gator. Before delivery of the checks to the Honcho, money will be sent from the Honcho to Larry. Larry is a busy guy and probably won't enjoy being pestered. He CANNOT keep a manufacturing schedule because his is a full time doctor. ... felix

The 41 gators that Felix reccomended last year fit the 41GB boolit well. The 8mm gators fit the 8mm 175 gr. GB boolit well also.
I'll go 5000 .323" Gator checks also. Zip is 62801.

Thanks Felix. Under 20 bucks per thousand is one good buy. I would advise anyone interested to put the cash aside now because you won't be disappointed with the quality or the price! Personally, I'll take 5k of 30 cal, also, whenever they come up. Who knows what the metals market will be like next year at gb time?[smilie=1:

Need to shoot for 50K or thereabouts. Keep in mind it will be easier to be equitable in sorting the mess out if all piles are equal in size. Therefore, make the piles at 5K each. Otherwise, we'd have to make 1K piles and that would suck big time without NO-1's auto scale. ... felix

Jballs,

I have spoke to Felix about this counting issue. If you wish for them to be shipped straight to me from manufacturing then out from my zip of 32073 to the purchaser, let me know. I can bring the auto-scale home any time and will sort / ship them. I am not sure what the added cost of shipping the whole lot to me first then from me out to the buyer would be but if you like send me a pm with your phone number and a good time to call and we can discuss it.

Robert.

About 5.20 or so for the unlimited weight paper mailer envelope. Pack each order in a ziploc baggie, about 10 cents, one of which should hold 5K of 323s?, wrap that baggie in one of the free paper mailers, then fold it to be flat, and then stick the whole thing in another mailer envolope, then seal. Add 25 cents per package to be mailed for gas and a beer or two should do it. Shipping cost from Larry will be negotiated out. I will have Larry ship to you, NO-1, provided it all is OK via the Balls. ... felix

Gentlemen,
Please understand I am not trying to hi-jack Jballs deal. I am just offering my service since I have some equipment that would/could help make this go pretty smooth. I have read of and spoke in our chat room (long ago) with Felix about the trouble / strain of doing the "mutha of all gas check deals" and am offering help if it is wanted.

I was not really interested in taking over your deal, only interested in helping out but if it makes everything easier then I will assume the helm when you give me the word Capt'n

For the rest of you scoundrals....

If Jballs deems me the the new honcho then no problem. I will work in conjuction with Felix to provide the best experience possible. It will take a few days for me to get caught up on this thread to see who is in for what then I will post the current list. I have a campout planned this weekend and after 3p.m. eastern today (friday SEPT 1) I will not be near a computer until Monday evening (SEPT 4).

I have no answers at the moment concerning this buy so please to not overwhelm me with IM's.

The counting scales are really no big "wonder". We have had ours for at least 15 years. They can be purchased from a company named "U-LINE" (www.uline.com) . The price for the basic model is about $395.00 + tax and shipping and they go to about $1350.00 + tax and shipping. This one has been very useful to me. I assisted in a group buy of nickel plated surplus .45 cases a couple of years back (13k if I remember correctly) and the scale had it done before the ice melted in my tea.

Yes, if we use the auto scale! But, still not advisable because of complications. Besides, checks are like good wiskey, and don't go down hill with age. And, some board member will buy extras. ... felix

Yes Felix,
I am commited with the auto scale. We WILL use it to do this (and other deals).

I am in Norfolk working now. Camping went great. Had to come here Tuesday morning. I am settled now. I still have to look thru the old post and the PM balls sent to get the list of commitments together but hopefully I will get it done tonight for a updated post.

Moderators: Can you make this a sticky until the deal goes down?

OK Gentlemen,

This is the last call if you want some!

Per Larry's cost and Felix's direction $18.00 per k + $6.00 shipping/handling per package to be sent to me (example: 5k x $18.00 = $90.00 + $6.00 s/h = total $96.00). I will let this ride a couple more days then I will send a PM to all those involved with my mailing address. Please be prompt with your payment. Once your payment is received I will send 1 check from me to Larry for the whole shooting match. Felix will keep us posted on Larry's progress until the package leaves Larry's hands. Once it arrives I will let eveyone know. It will take a day or so to package it up and deliver it to the post office then depending on the USPS you will get it pretty soon.

Questions / comments?

Robert

Gentlemen,

We are getting down to the wire on this one. If you want in on this, NOW is the time to make it happen. The cost is $18.00 per thousand with a $6.00 shipping fee per package as long as it fits into 1 flat USPS envelope (which it should with the amounts that are being ordered) however if you live outside the continental US, the shipping will be more and handled on a case by case basis. If you need to get in then I need a PM from you indicating the amount deisred and your full name with address at which time I will respond with my info for payment

Payments need to be sent now as they will be cashed on Monday the 25th of September, 9 days from now. This gives you until friday September 23rd to get them to me. Any check arriving after that MIGHT be returned.

I really want this to go down smooth. As long as Felix, Larry, me and you are happy with the way this deal works I will take on the next batch and continue so until we cycle thru the sizes you have ask for.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

This GB is going well. We are at 73k as of today.

If you want in, now is the time. No matter where you are in the good old U.S. of A. you can get your funds out tomorrow and they will be here by the deadline of friday. I want to restate that I wish to have your payments received by this friday.

I will deposit your checks Saturday morning so they may begin processing then try to give Felix a call with the final count and hammer out the final details. As soon as Larry provides Felix with the final cost I will draw a cashiers check in that amount to be sent priority mail.

Shortly afterward I hope to recieve the package, process it that evening and get it out in the mail the next day.

This is my first GB so please hang in there,

Shortly afterward I hope to recieve the package, process it that evening and get it out in the mail the next day.

I can almost see the finish line from here,

Thanks Frank. I am sure it will be here soon.

I know what you mean with the GB's. All that have happened here are (to me) desirable deals. I bought in on a couple (ok, more than a couple) and wanted more. Sometimes the GB "monkey" can be hard to shake......

Is there any way I can get you to send me about 25 of those 375's unsized or lubed? I missed that buy due to lack of funds and would like to try it in my Ruger #3.

Robert

keeper689, yeah I know what you mean. My last order to midway for 375 and 8mm gas checks 2000 each almost cost $100. OUCH. So I figgured I better get into the group buy as soon as possible.
Robert, as soon as the weather cools off down here. Was out doing the grass and with my messed up lungs and 84 degrees it was a real chore. The mold is in the box still. I have to make a run and try to get some steel round head screws to do the "Buckshot Bumper". Drill and tap the block where the handle hits it and opens the mold. But when I start with this mold you can have the bullets gratis, will have to check and see what sizer dies I have in that caliber. I have javelina lube in the sizer and will gas check 'em as well. Will let you know what sizes I have. Frank

Frank, I do appreciate where you are coming from--lived down there from 79 to 84--we moved down in the second week of July--and it felt like we were maybe ten or twelve feet away from the sun! But nicer times are just around the corner, as you well know.......and those gator checks are every bit as good as the Hornady and I think perhaps just a little better--and a damn sight cheaper! I know my two 98's in 8mm are more than ready to go, hopefully the gb molds come in this week or early next week!

Felix, I think it was you that suggested going a caliber at a time on this round of gator checks--if so, I must compliment you as this seems to be moving much faster than the last multi caliber buy.......anyway, seems as if smooth sailing is the order of the day this time around!:-D

felix
09-23-2006, 09:00 PM
Yes, indeed, it does appear faster, but not really. Why? Multiply 20 calibers by one month and that would be 20 months according to the speed we are working now. But, single check orders speed presents a tremendous amount of stress reduction for all parties involved!!!! It took six hellacious months for 20 calibers last time, not to mention the three weeks of repackaging. It will be one day this time around, thanks to Robert and his magic scale. ... felix

I watched the "Mutha of all gas check GB's" go down and even tho I was not involved on either side I can imagine that it seemed to drag out for those that were waiting on just a few calibers. Doing it this way will be a lot easier not only for Larry, Felix and myself but also for those who are waiting for their little baggie of gold wafers. I am not against doing multiples at one time but think if we only deal with 1 at a time then we are not waiting for the whole multi-caliber package to get competed before we take delivery.

09-24-2006, 04:56 PM
Could we go ahead and get another one started before the one is complete, so we are ready to go with it as soon as the one is done? Just seems like it may drag out even longer if we wait totally till one is done to even start the other. Meaning we could go ahead and find out who wants in and what not. Say the word go you have 7 days to get it in. Something like that anyway.

felix
09-24-2006, 11:16 PM
It takes more than 7 days for folks to find out about a group buy. Some sign on no more than a week per visit, others don't see the notice. Besides, the maker of the checks, Larry the Gator, needs a rest between manufacturing jobs. He spends many hours with the machines, making sure the checks are the best in the land. ... felix

Ladies and Gentlemen,

(Moderators: please "un-stick" this one.)

The GATORCHECKS have arrive at my place. They have been counted, re-counted and then bagged. The shipping envelopes have been labeled and attached to the envelopes. When I finish my hamburger helper (gotta eat "lean" to buy LOTS of these things) I will double check the shipping address' and final pack them. They will go out priority mail tomorrow and you should received them (my guess) Saturday or Monday at the latest with the exception of our buddy that lives in "The Great White North" who should get his shorty thereafter.

I would like to take a moment to thank Gunload Master for hosting this site which allows us to have this fun, 45NUT for building it, The moderators, Felix for co-honcho'n, Larry "The Doc" for making these marvelous things, those I forgot (because there is SOMEONE for sure) and of course you guys for making this eeeeeassssssy!

The packages went out today priority mail. For those in the US, it should be 2-3 days. For our great white north buddy, it will 4-7.

I learned a lot about shipping thru the USPS on this one. I will detail in the 30 CAL GATORCHECK GB.

Thanks again for everyone who has made it easy.

No problem Bruce. I cannot wait to use mine either but it may be a while since I move recently also. I kinda have my reloading stuff in one place but all the stuff the wife wants fixed first take priority but of course the GATORCHECK GB does not count.

I can undstand the trouble Felix went thru. For me the counting thing is easy with the "majic scale" as some have called it. The tough part is packaging it and making sure the right order is in the right box. (Almost messed up and lost out on 2k to myself last night because I put a 5k bag in a envelope that should have had 3k). Then taking it to the Post Office was a little tough because I held up the line for 30 minutes or so. This one was pretty easy compare to the next I am sure. This was only 76k. The 30 CAL will be close to 400k. Looks like a bunch of trips to the post office in my future....

Good Evening Bobby,
I measured each order 3 times. There was 1 / 10k, 3 / 3k orders, 1 / 2k and the rest were 5k orders. I did the 10k first and packed it for shipping followed by the 5k's then the 3k's then the 2k. All were packed in zip lock brand freezer bags, then each persons order was placed in a USPS poly bag then that went into the Priority Mail Flat Rate mailer. I double checked each order before final sealing.

My records indicate your order of 5k. If you have an intact inner bag then you have the order as shipped. When set on a table and looking at the bag from the side the 5k amount should consume the whole white area of the bag where the words 'one zip", "323 GATORCHECK" and "5k" are written. If you think there is a problem please let me know.

For the 30 CAL I will change the way I ship. Instead of the priority flat rate envelope I will find a comparable price box for added security but the downside is these will ship slower.

Robert, the stuffed - full as a tick - flat rate envelope with 10K of gas checks arrived today.

Package was intact. No tears and no signs of any efforts made to open/inspect.

Mailed from Jacksonville FL on Wed 11-Oct and arrived Mon 16-Oct. 5 days including Sunday when there is no delivery.

I did not expect delivery to be any sooner for the mail route between Jackville, FL to Charleston, SC is via Atlanta to Savannah and then 95 miles up US-17.

ZIP lock bags are well marked. That will be most useful as I intend to be buying more of these GB gas checks and later when I have a chest full, I will be able to find the one I want to use without guessing.

Thanks again to you and everyone else involved. :drinks:
