I picked up a couple of cans of JPW at Lowe's this weekend. Hadn't seen it there the last time I was in the store. When I opened it, it wasn't the tan color I am accustomed to seeing. It was a grey color and it seemed to have more solvent than before. Very thin. I haven't bought any in over 2 years so I'm wondering if they have changed it. I'm going to email Johnson's if I can find the address and ask about it. Has anyone else gotten any like this?

I picked up 2 cans at Home Depot about 2 Mo.s ago and it was the brown color.
John :
Sounds like you have 2 bad cans to me ? I don't think that it should be grey.

Probably the new "green" low VOC version. But I would expect that in California, not Tennessee.

Just checked a can bought at Lowes this spring. It's the usual brown color

Think I'm going to have to call SC Johnson--last three cans I bought are gray as well, and much thinner.
Either a formula change or a really bad batch made it out of the factory.

You rake 'em over the coals, Recluse, I bet we casters are about the only ones buying that particular product anymore!

Well, I bet we buy the majority of it. Army might still buy a can or two. :)
But I still like it as a wood polish for some of my hardwood furniture.

I have three cans at home I'l check as soon as I get off work. All three bought in NJ, one at an old school hardware store about 4 years ago and two at Lowe's in Lakewood about 4 months ago.
Has anyone tried this new grey stuff in Boolit lube yet?

If I can't return what I have and find the older tan stuff, I will be trying it.

Yep, the can I have that I bought 4 or so years ago is the familiar brown stuff, the two I bought 6 months ago are the new stuff. :|

I prefer it (to all others) as the release agent for glass bedding jobs...

I went back to get more (just in case) and the 6 or so cans that they had last week were all gone! HMMMMMM.....

My new can is yellow with a red stripe on top.
The wax inside is gray/green in color --almost Olive drab, and quite moist in the texture.
I coated some 32 ACP bullets with it and it seemed to work OK. I did notice the coating was very thin, perhaps not a bad thing. It dried in a few hours and looks OK. I have not shot them yet.
