Need some streight skinny from the experts on mold material. I plan to order one, or two new molds and know nothing about brass molds or their characteristics. Mostly I use single cavity iron molds bought used over the years and a few alum molds from Lee bought new getting good results from all most of the time. The brass mold pictures on The Net just look so pretty! Should I stay with iron or take the jump to brass? I would be making lots of bullets as these new molds will be for the 45 long Colt and 44 Special.

Here is some info from a man who designs and cuts molds.

Look to the left when you open it and find the link to "Mold Construction". Dan gives his views on the difference in mold material etc. He also does great work and has a unique online program where an individual can design their own mold.

Keep in mind that brass is heavy. Far more tiresome to cast with than aluminum or even iron.
