Well, I set out this morning to go buy a Rossi 92, didn't work out. Sandwiched in between a 24" .357 blued and a short rifle octogon case hardened .44 was a 1984 vintage Browning (pre rebound, pre any safety) 1895 in 30-06. Now I need another 06, like I need some more fat on my belly, but for 599, I took it and left the Rossi's for 499 orphaned. The blue is about 98%, no rust, bore looks good, wood is mayber 90%, but can easily be 100% with a little effort. The only thing that is not original is a pretty professional set of swivel studs, front barrel band and one in the buttstock.
Think she's going to be dedicated to cast, with that sharp blued steel buttplate, I just don't want to cut loose a 180 grain partition at 2700 fps you know.

Great buy, that 1895. You don't really want to run 180s at 2700 FPS in a 95 anyway--150s at 2700 are a better idea. I wouldn't exceed the pressures/ballistics of 1903-vintage ammo in the 95.......that was its intended performance envelope.

For my shoulder's sake, I'm thinking more like a 180 boolit at about 2000 fps. If I feel the need to have myself beat up I'll grab my 'lil 5.5 pound Weatherby Ultra Weight, or the Rigby. Think this will be a fun gun, when I realized it had no safety and no rebounding hammer (I've had trouble with these) I almost giggled like a school girl.
