Amazing you mentioned this. I just acquired another cadet action that is in 218 Mashburn bee (already have that one in a contender) and was wondering what rimmed pistol cartridge using brass I currently have on hand I could convert it to. I was thinking of keeping the current barrel so mine could be a 22/38, 22/357, 22/41, 22/44 magnum or 22/44 special.
My only design suggestion would be a pretty sharp shoulder angle.

If you went 6 or 7 mm I think you could simply use TCU dies/reamers with the max brass to make a rimmed version of either. I have made a few 222rem rimmed dummies from max brass and it worked. You will very likely need to anneal the top 1/3 or 1/4 of the case though. ..........GOOD LUCK sounds like a very neat and worthy project.

You may want to consider the 30-357 mag. Lots of people have tried this one. Its got a good rep.

There is also the .270 Max, which is a standard chambering for the RPM XL pistol. Case forming for all of these requires some care. I would recommend neck dimensions that don't require neck turning, unless you enjoy that sort of activity.

Jim Rock also used to (maybe still does) the 30-357 Max, but we all know 30 cal is blase`
I makes perfect sense to me go for the proper proper diameter and thus 6.5 is a perfect idea.
