As I prefer single cavity molds - Do any of the Mold Makers offer a single cavity in the RCBS-270SAA style for 45 Colt? Any suggestions as to who could make me one? I have this bullet in double cavity but seldom can get the back hole to produce anything of quality besides, the RCBS double along with those huge handles are very heavy and somewhat clumsey in my old hands and being a ladle guy and not a bottom pourer is likley why I prefer singles.

Don't know of any. RCBS is stuck on 2 cav, wish they'd make 4 cav. Most folks go for
more holes not less.

Have you tried 2 cav aluminum molds, they are a lot lighter and may work for you.

My fav mold for heavy 45colt loads. Mine throws perfect bullets @ 280gr from ww alloy.

Ok, then maybe you fellas can suggest why I have trouble getting good bullets from the rear hole? Have tried running lead both hotter and colder, maybe my casting speed needs to be faster? Yes, most guys want more holes but I never felt I needed more production results for time invested. Thanks for responding.

Are you getting wrinkles, voids, or is it something else?

Have you tried pouring the problem cavity first? How about pressure & duration (varying them)?

Voids mostly at the base. I tried pouring the back one 1st as well but still get voids, never wrinkles through. Has to be my process because having a 300 grain459 double, also in RCBS, I have the same issues. With single cavity, have poured perfect bullets for many, many years in several brands, small to large.
