Will using a gas check adversely affect proper bullet obturation? I'm currently developing loads to shoot a sized (.458), gas checked, Lyman Super Moly Lubed, 470 gr.(490 gr. after lube & GC) in front of charges of 38-45 gr. of Varget in a 34" Shiloh Sharps. I have not yet range tested these charges but I have 82 rounds loaded and ready to go. In my estimation the velocity will range from 1200 to 1600 fps. so gas checks probably aren't really necessary but I speculated that they may keep the bore a bit cleaner. If these developmental loads can't deliver 1 minute of angle or less at 100 yards I'll probably scrap using GC's. Your thoughts on bullet obturation with GC's will be appreciated.

All of the cast bullets with gas checks applied and recovered from snow (no deformation at all), show proper obduration of the bullets.
