Sam, Is the shielding under a sealed metal cover? Roughly how much do you think you might yield? If 10 lbs. or less I`d pass on the effort.Robert

Robert,

The Case is plastic and is heavy, haven't weighed it, Doesn't easily fit on my scale. Was told it has lead sheeting in it. Thought of smacking it with a pick hoe.

Why not use a sawz all on it. Should cut through the edge of that plastic cover pretty fast? Sam your Lee pot went out on Friday. Should be there by Tuesday. Later David

David,

Would be a great plan if I had one. Thanks for the update on the pot. My supplier was going to toss the case, so I told them, I'll dispose of it properly.

I would, but I often circle back around to pickup WW on the side of the road. My wife says I'm addicted to Pb.

Katie said to tell you she knows exactly how your wife feels. Picked up over 2 tons in the last few weeks.[smilie=1::rolleyes:

Two tons! Man, I wish one day I can say that.

Two tons just means you're spending too much time collecting and not enough shooting.[smilie=1:

Thats a cool way to get extra $$. Turning those ugly nasty discusting piles of cruddy looking beat up lead scrap into pretty , clean , nice and stackable ingots and getting paid for it.

I'll bet that someone in your club would have a good sawzall. I would be lost without mine.

David,

That explains why I'm lost all the time. Been wondering about that . Will check with a few of them. Got to go load a box of lead before it gets hot.

Sam, Here`s a stupid suggestion about freeing the lead - burn the plastic off!Robert

Didn't have to, if you take out all the screws and pry the inside off, you can then pull out the dead soft lead lining. :bigsmyl2: [smilie=w:[smilie=w:

That's what I was thinking. Big bone fire and if you're lucky lead will be in a puddle in the ashes. Of course burning wood with plastic creates cancer causing agents. My old brain isn't coming up with there name.

Biggest worry now is what kind of glue they used to stick it to the case. Guess it is one of those, go to the pot when it quits smoking deals.

Glad you got it free. I agree with the thought of staying away from the pot while it is smoking, like staying up-wind from the outhouse!Robert

Turned out to be two 26" square sheets with a two in turn up on one about 1/8" thick, so soft they bend when you try to pick them up.

2 tons.... Boy, Sam you must have some real bad roads where you live. And while I might not tear it apart right now, I keep it. I don't toss out anything that has lead in it.
