I found a Super Blackhawk Hunter in 45 colt. What is a good price for one new in the box? Is this a good cast boolit gun?

camel a guy that used to come here had one and i shot it a bit. It was the most accurate 45 colt ive ever shot. Im not much on scoped handgun but after seeing the tiny groups he got with that one id have bought it off him in a heartbeat.

I would have to say right around the $500.oo mark. For just the gun alone.

I have the Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter Bisley in .44 Mag great pistol. :)

I am not an expert, but I always thought that the Ruger "Super Blackhawks" were nominally .44 magnum, and the Ruger "Blackhawks" were .45 long colt or .45 acp. Might want to check the Ruger website and see what they have to say. (I have one of each, btw, 7-1/2" barrels, and they are tack drivers. I concur with the $500.00 range.)

It is a Super Blackhawk hunter in 45 colt. From what I can tell only 600 or so where made.

If it's the Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter buy it! I have one in 44 mag. I want one in 45 Colt, and one in 41 Magnum. $500 is a fair price.

I wanted to add it is all 44Mans FAULT lol. And to think I was looking for a Ruger Super Blackhawk Stainless with the 4 5/8ths barrel and ran into this one and first mistake I made was call 44Man and ask him about the Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley and he said oh what is a couple of inches lol. So I went from a light single action carry gun to Hammer lol. :) But I am glad I did

I get to blame mine on a friend that owns a pawn shop. He calls me from time to time with deals on guns he knows I'm interested in. He wouldn't let me say no to this one.

The SBH Hunter in 45 Colt is pretty rare. There were only +-600 of those made, and +-275 of the Bisley Model. I would think $600-$650 would even be a fair price right now, they don't pop up that often on GB and go for as high as $750+ when they do. I got mine (45 non-bisley) for $595 and didn't blink, that is still the best price I've seen. I love mine.

There are 2 on GB right now. One for $795 and the other for $500. Both have the regular grip frame, not the bisley.

Hi...

First post here, but I have been lurking about for some time.

I found one of these at my local gunshop a couple of years ago for $485 including the scope.
I had no idea they were so rare.

Here's some info I think I found in a thread on this forum from a guy who emailed Lipseys about his BisHunter.....

Reply from Jason Cloessner @ Lipseys regarding my 45 Hunter :

"We indeed have those guns commissioned by Ruger. They sold extremely well. There were two models, one with the standard Super Blackhawk gripframe and one with the Bisley gripframe. There were a total of 603 of the standard ones made and 279 of the Bisley models. The odd numbers are a result of overruns of parts and we decided to use them for the extra units. One interesting piece of Ruger trivia is that to my knowledge it is the only 45LC that Ruger made with non-fluted and/or non-engraved cylinders. Enjoy your new gun, its about the perfect all-around hunting revolver made."

Jason

Oh, and here's mine :D

I'm a new guy here but have been on GBO and MO for a while now. I found this thread while looking for a Ruger SBH Hunter in 45 Colt. If someone knows of one for sale I would be very interested. Prefer the SBH over the Bisley model. Please PM me and by the way I'm drooling on the computer from the pics. Thanks.

What front sight is that and how do you like it? :bigsmyl2:

The sight looks like the same company's I have sitting on my SRH, however it is probably a different height. The company that has these fiber optics is Marble Arms and I like them very well and are great for lower light conditions.

No doubt they are decent revolvers I remember when they first came out in 44 magnum. I had one of the first ones they made. And it is a good shooter. However I just think a scope on a single action is like lipstick on a pig. It just does not belong. Tom.

It's a Marbles sight, and I took it off and use the factory sight now. Whoever had the pistol before me ordered the wrong height front sight. The rear sight was bottomed out and the pistol still shot way too high. As tall as that front sight is I can't even begin to guess what distance the previous owner was shooting. The factory original sight with the red plastic insert works just fine for me. And it's low enough to actually be usefull at reasonable ranges.
