Isotope Lead for Hollow Points?

I've got a couple GB Hollow Point moulds on the way, and have bought some of Sam's isotope lead to cast with, as it seems pretty close to 20:1 alloy.

Is there anything I need to add to the mix, or will it cast okay for HPs as is?

Has anybody cast HPs with this lead, and if so, how did it come out?

I mixed some with some range lead and about 4 oz of tin and they were some of the best boolits that I've cast.

Jim, Where were yo on the old Voodoo's? I was in the 18th TRS in Laon, France and Upper Heyford, England on those about a century ago.

Voodoo's were a bit before my time, our unit (152 TRG) had already converted to the RF4C when I joined it. We do have a RF101B Voodoo on static display though, used to be just outside my office window a few years ago. Hence the avatar.

It was moved a few years ago, and I've moved a few times myself, but I can see it from my current office again.

I've been mixing a little isotope lead with WW and making some nice shiny boolits. Must be a good bit of tin in the isotope stuff. Getting good fillout at lower temps.

I get acceptable results runnin the pot at 750f & castin fast until I get hot voids on the bands .

Better wth a 2oz of babbit to 9lbs& ya can turn back the heat .

Let me say this , I cast with a SC lyman 358156 that`s had the GC removed.

I agree with DLCTEX shiney boolits !!!

I think I`m gonna try lowerin the heat & warm the pin with propane.

Or I could just drill a hole in the siding & let the sun shine on it !!!!

Babbit? I used to have a 1950 Chevy 3500 with a 'babbit knocker' 215 engine.

Same stuff? Some sort of Lead/tin mixture?

The Babbit is part of an order we split is some 80% tin we split. Good stuff.

I did an analysis on isotope container(about 15 lb size) 20 years ago, came out almost identical to ww alloy(about 3.5% antimony, 0.5% tin). I suspect this might be to hard to expand.

I have been mixing 8# WW to 1# isotope lead and the boolits are shinier and fill out better than the straight WW. There is definitely more tin in the isotope lead than in our WW.
