Is there a source of inexpensive .45 Schofield brass?
I am looking to the future.
Midway has them, but they are pricey.

Greetings
I think STARLINE still lists these. They may be backordered but they have the best price.
The other option is wack off 45 Colt. I started shooting 44 Russian long before there was brass about and sure did shorten a bunch of 44 Specials. Dremel the case to close and finish on a regular trimmer.

Midway has Hornady 45 Schofield brass on clearance RIGHT now. They show only about 700. May not be dirt cheap at $32 or so per 100, but doable if one is looking. Look up some Midway codes before ordering. If I didn't have my 500 Starline cases I may be looking also.

How does the power compare to the .45LC?

My usual 45 Schofield load is a home cast 200 grn (45 acp) bullet with an upper charge of Titegroup. I don't have the chrony data here but it's just about the same as a mild 45 colt load. I think it's a great general target/woods/plinking load.

Here is what I got; 5.1-5.2 grains of Titegroup gave 725fps average with a 250 grn plated bullet, 45 Schofield case.

My 200 grn home cast bullets are loaded with 6.0 grains of TG. They shot very well but I did not use the chrony with them.
