Good day at the range

Yesterday I went to the range, first time in two months. Took three guns to play with.
Browning BDA 380, TC Contender .223, `10", and a Marlin 32 Winchester Special.

First up would be the 32 Win Spec. distance 50 yards. Mold NOE 326407 150 grain actual weight, sized to .325".
13 grains Red Dot. There are 13 rnds on the target in two separate groups. the two groups are the result of me changing my grip and paying more attention to holding on center. I put another 12 rounds at a rock of about 10" at 100 yds and got 9 out of 12. I was happy with that as I seldom ever shoot that well. But the best part is when I checked the barrel, no leading. That is a first since I have had this rifle, about 8 months.

On to the Contender, 10" 223 barrel, iron sights, NOE 22-055 GC boolit, sized .226". 25 grains 4895. Again at 50 yds and as you can see not so good but about as good as I have ever gotten from this barrel. BUT again no leading. I have never shot cast boolits with this barrel before and as I gave up shooting j-bullets years ago I haven shot this barrel in years. Took the opportunity when NOE offered the mold.

And for the BDA. I was most disappointed with this one as far as accuracy goes. if you look at the pic and realize that my point of aim was the lower left corner of each target. So it is shooting very high and right, Distance is 50 feet. Mold is MP 100 grn Truncated cone, for the target on the right 100 rnds, and MP 93 grn HP, 50 rnds for the target on the left. Both sized to .359". Both shot to the same POA. Fixed sights so adjustment, though not impossible will be a pita. Or acquire some adjustable sights. Come to think of I may have some, will have to look.

So the title of this post refers to having shot these three guns and getting no leading that I can see in the each barrel. After stuffing a tight dry patch in each all I saw were a few tiny specs of lead from the Marlin. All were sized in dies that I made specifically for each boolit. This lack of leading is not common for me as usually got some visible amount to clean. In my GP 100 I get a lot of leading but I am working on that.

We are going to the range tomorrow to try out the GF's new pink TCP .380. I got a lee rn mold for it but you have to load them so deep because the nose profile. I only loaded 3 of them to try. It won't feed the 105gr SWC at all. That's why they call those little pistols belly guns. you aim for the belly to hit the chest:kidding:

.223) That's the same load I use in my rifle with Jwords. If you slow it down they should tighten up.

I have only had 1 SS ruger and it leaded.?

You did not print the 380 load but what you are getting is not out of line with small caliber guns.

Most manufacturers still believe that most of these guns go in the sock drawer and are never fired and when they are fired it's across the matteress!

First thing I'd try, if you have some "room", is an increase in velocity. A faster round will shoot "flatter" and hit lower on the target.

You may have to play with boolit weight as well. I hear the Lee 105 SWC does well in this caliber. Don't own a .380 so have no experience.
