I am looking to work up a .44 load for 200 - 300 yard silouete shooting from a 24" Rossi lever action. I will use .44 mag brass and some 300gr cast cullets from the now defunct National Bullet Company. Anyone have any good loads I could use to start with?

are those boolits gc or pb? if there gc 19- 20gr. of w296 or h110 will get you close. but recoil will be stiff. if there pb 8gr. of unique will serve you good. that's somthing to start with.:Fire:

No Gas Check at the moment. I have 300 of these I bought about 5 years ago but the next time I buy they will be gas checked. Anyone ever load heavy 44 bullets with red dot or blue dot?

LubeckTech-- I would not load 300g boolits in the .44 mag with Red Dot. This is a relatively "fast" powder and is best used with lighter boolits up to 250g. I can't speak to Blue Dot and 300g cast boolits, but the manuals or the net may have some load info. FWIW, I use WC820 or H-110/WW296 or even 2400 with 300g boolits. Like izzyjoe suggests, 19-20g of H-110/296 will "get you close".

silouete shooting is one place where velocity is better. the faster the flatter it will shoot and the better it will knock down targets with marginal hits. If it were me id load some stout 110 loads. Your 92 is very strong and will take some stout loads and 110 is the powder to use when really pushing a 44 mag.

I8 gr. of VV N110 gives best performance with the LBT 320gr. out of my M94, all the way out to 600 yards.

I use WC680 with the Lee 310 in my Super Blackhawk. No problem to hit a milk jug at 200 yards and a little beyond with iron sights. 24grs is a slightly compressed load for about 1100 fps. Not fast but accurate.
