I have a new Ruger SP101 in .32 H&R Mag, and about 600 cases in .32 Long, but only about half a box of .32 H&R cases. They seem to be surprisingly hard to come by.

I wonder if anyone has any 'upper end' .32 Long loads that might be better matched to the Ruger than the anemic factory loads and reloads that run 650 or 700 fps, which seem to typify much .32 Long data. Would particularly appreciate data for 3118 (or 311008).

The last I knew, Starline had brass for the 32 H&R.

If you have an older top break .32S&L around or your loads might get into one do not use these loads.

In my M30 S&W with 3" barrel I use 2.7 gr of Bullseye under a Lee TL314-90-SWC. The bullets are sized at .314 for the S&W but that load shoots very well in my Ruger first run Single Six with 6 1/2" barrel. Velocity is 950 fps. With loads strictly for the Ruger .32 H&R loaded in S&WL cases I use 3 gr of Bullseye. Velocity is 1005 fps and I regualrly put 12 in 1.5 -2" at 25 yards. Same load in Starline .32 H&R cases is only slightly more accurate, not enough so to get excited about. These is my standard and most often used loads in my M30 and Ruger SS.

Because of problems with the Federal .32 Mag cases (which were all that were available until Starline started making them), I shot an awful lot of .32 Long cases in the .32 Mag. In my experience, the max. for a strong .32 Mag gun is a 100gr lead bullet with 4.5gr of HS-6. That duplicates the lead .32 Mag load. I would not use that load in a .32 Long handgun, but the Ruger is plenty strong. For lesser loads, here is an article. PS: Since writing it, I found a .32 Mag Super-Single-Six.

I loaded a pile of them for rugers over the years but allways had mag cases too so i loaded the longs light. Usually a 100 grain bullet and 2 grains of bullseye. Great load for the kids to shoot and also for potting small game like squirels and rabbits.

Ken Waters has some extensive writes ups on the 32 S+W, S+W Long and Mag in "Pet Loads". I very strongly suggest every reloader purchase this book.
