This is an FPGC .31 caliber bullet listed as dropping from the mould at .311." Does anyone have experience with this mould? I'd like to know the nose diameter at the front driving band, specifically will it fit a tight-chambered single-shot .30-30 (Browning 1885)? Thanks.

Gary,
I have the smaller diameter version(#307) that drops at .309" with a .302" nose. If you're going to buy a Saeco, and particularly for a singleshot, I recommend the #315. Its a tapered bullet and has worked well in my 30-06, 30-30, 7.5x55, and another friend's 30-06. It will work through the action in my 336CB. I size and lube at .311" and not sizing any but the bottom band. Try 17gr AA5744 (or close) for an accurate, moderate load. It worked in my 30-30 to at least 385m.

I too have the 307, mine cast in my mix is .311 X .301
You need to slug the barrel/throat area to get the size boolit you need, I expect the 307 to be to big on the nose. for that browning.

It's hit or miss for getting the size you want with a factory made mold.

Saeco's are good molds but there having quality problems like everyone else although not as bad.

I have 305, 307, 315.

My 30-30 has a large throat and a .3095" groove diameter so I tried 305 but never did get it to shoot well. The RCBS 180 FPGC and SPGC are both far more accurate in my Winnie 94 and single shot 308.

I have 315 but have used it very little. This boolit is the most frustrating, aggravating thing to lube I've ever seen. Far more trouble than it's worth for me.

excess650 :

I'm with you on the # 315, one of the most accurate .30 cal. bullets that I've ever shot.
