Just cast some boolits with the Lyman 429649. My Ruger Bisley Hunter shoots the Lee 310 very well. Comparing it to the 649 looks like it shouldn't be too long but I have no experience shooting a bullet this heavy in a .44 mag. The box says 325 gr. but the bullets fall from the mold with my alloy at 335 gr. (That is without lube and gas check). Anyone out there shoot bullets this heavy in a revolver? What kind of loads? The RBH shoots the Lee (which by the way only weighs around 300 grs. with lube and gascheck using same alloy, go figure) very well with a healthy dose of VV N110. Any advice will be greatly appreciated as always.

I have that mold, but I drilled out the gas check shank, and it's a plain base now. Lubed, mine weigh 347gr. I use H 110 and they shoot fine out of my Red hawk. I have to size mine through a Lee push thru first, then lube in a regular lubrisizer to keep the nose from becoming to big to chamber.

One day , I'm going to hunt Elk with that pistol, and those will be the bullets I'll use.

21.5 gr's of 296 and the fed 150 primer for both boolits. Drop the H110 and let us know what happens.

I shoot that same bullet out of my bisley behind a load of wc820 that i wont publish hear and cast out of 5050 ww/lyno theres few bullets that outpenetrate it in our testing. It flys well way out there and is accurate too. Its one of the first bullets i ever casted and many designs have come and gone but that ones still on the shelf

I cast about 90 of these yesterday. I was somewhat surprised to discover they only measured .429 as cast. I thought they would cast larger. With lube and gas check, they weigh 346 gr. I found a load with Lil Gun and intend to try it first. No one publishes loads with this weight bullet with N100, too bad it seems to be an excellent heavy bullet powder. I did make a dummy cartridge and had no problem chambering it in my Bisley Hunter. In any event, I will keep you all posted on this bullet.
