Okay, looks like I will be ordering a 6.8 upper in about a week and a half. Has anyone actually got around to shooting lead out of one of these?

I picked up a lyman 280412 and will get a sizer die once I can slug the barrel. I know it is a little heavy and will take up some powder space. However, I am not looking for a 2700 fps load. I am looking for something the kids can make it go bang with.

Suggestions?? Anyone tread this path yet?

I've been loading the RCBS 270-150 over trailboss for subsonic loads and it does great. Felix lube and ACWW+2% Tin alloy.

I shot some cast in my old barrel, since I put a new Bison Armory barrel on it I have not shot cast in it.....doubt that I will.

It did shoot pretty well with the 1:9.5 twist barrel....went slow with them dont remember what powder I used but I did get it to cycle....it was grouping 1.5" at 75 yards, jacketed out of that barrel was about 1.5" at 100 yards.

That weight is a little much for the 6.8, currently I'm looking at a mold for my Bison upper I'm building from LBT, 110gr spitzer which should be perfect. Boolits/bullets above 115 or 120 take up alot of space inside the case and would require seating too deeply to keep the gas check in the neck. At least in the AR platform. I am planning on shooting cast in my Bison barrel, plinking with factory loads or even j-words is just too costly.

Does it cycle the action?

Does it cycle the action?

No it does not. His rifle has the adjustable gas block on it and it cannot be made to cycle even with adjusting it. Just not enough gas to get it going.
