I have some pure lead, clip on WW and some lino. I'm thinking that the lead and lino mixed 50/50 and WW/lino mixed 30% WW and 70% lino should make very good alloys for handgun boolits. I'm looking at velocities from 750-1,000 fps.

I have pure lead and linotype also and for top grade boolits I put 8-9 lbs of pure lead in the pot, one lb of linotype and about 2 oz of tin.

Save your lino for more important types of shooting.

COWW by itself should work fine for your pistol rounds.
COWW/Pure 50/50 should work in most.
Save the lino for high velocity.

blazin - I've been using 50/50 clip on and what I call pure, it's close enough. That's for my 1911's. A little tin and all is well. I too would say save the lino for now. enjoy Mike

50:50 ww+pure will work very well for that velocity range.

Unless you really need some extremely hard boolits , there is no reason to ever use more than 50% lino with pure lead and not more than 30% lino with Clip WWs.
The 50/50 lino/pure lead will equal 2-6-92 which is the commercial casting alloy, aka: "hardball".

I use 50/50 ww /soft lead or 12% lino with soft lead. Both work well for me.

I agree +1 on the mix.
But I would tell ya.
Get a hardness checker.
Because if you know how hard
it is you may not need to mix.:coffeecom

For my rifle boolits I use a 75/25 WW/Lino mix, AC'ed there 15-16 BHN, oven HT'ed
there 22-24.

All my HG boolits are 50/50 WW/Lead @ about 11 BHN, 99% of em are shot around 750
