Hi
I double checked the weight and they are 96grs. The bag said also that they were cast from Lyman mold # 25720(?)
Any help again? With load info please?
Thanks

It does look like lyman did or does make that mold in 96 grains. A good powder to start with would be 4198, unique or 4227 as well. Load data for that bullet is hard to find. I would get data for 86 grainer and drop another 10% from the lowest load and seat out to max oal.

srk, from what I've understood from 25-20 users of the 92, twist is 1-14. Such a twist may not like the relatively long 25720 at low speed, and you can't shoot it too fast because the plainbase won't care for it.

Try for the 1300 to 1400 fps range as most likely to be successful with the long plain base bullet. You should be trying around 7 grains 4227 or 9 to 9.5 grains 4198 to start. I've shot both those powders myself and with a bullet of similar weight this should get you close to the lower end of the velocity range with the mentioned 4227 load, and at the upper end of it with 4198.

Also try 5.5 grains 2400 if you have some. This will give around 1300 fps or a bit under, increasing to a level of about 6 grains for 1400 fps.

Small pistol primers may be helpful with the 4227 and 2400 loads, especially. Should you have other powders, go for that 1300 to 1400 fps range if possible.

my old Lyman book lists a load for
25/20-- 91 g cast bullet 257312 using Unique as the most accurate load
min 4.5g 1428 / max 5.5g at 1623fps

it also might be a load for Trail Boss

I'll wager pretty heavily that Unique will fall short of the powders suggested, accuracywise, at the load levels I'm suggesting. Especially given the 25720 has no gascheck (unlike the Lyman 257312).....good luck making Unique work better than the slower powders with a plainbase; you won't!
