I generally don't buy guns from retail stores but this one was different. I have been contemplating getting a Smith and Wesson Model 329 for a long time. Right now I carry a 4" 629 a lot when hunting or scouting and wanted something a little lighter- something that would compliment my Ballisticast bullets. Well last week I was in a local store getting some oil, solvent, etc. I made the mistake of looking in the gun counter. There was a Smith and Wesson Model 327 there- one of which I had never seen or even considered. Well I took a look at it. I shouldn't have done that. The price was reeeaaal good and much less than I have seen for the 329. That plus it held 2 more rounds and I have a lonely 358429 mold at home sealed the deal. I have only put a few rounds thru it. Serious casting has to be done first. Still gotta get that 329. And now for a little gun porn...

That is a very, very nice looking gun! I've not been in the search of anything but now that one would get me tempted. Did those rubber grips come with it or were they extra? What does that jewel weigh? Wouldn't a .357 make as an effective of a round as a .44 special?

A modern lightweight model 28 with 2 extra rounds. Damn near perfect for a carry gun in the woods I'd think.

What WilJen said, for sure. An eminently practical platform. Those #358429 castings will thank you for propelling them through such a good-looking rollerpistole!

Wow Beau, that is one mighty purty six-(oops, I mean eight!)- gun! Great find!

THAT is one spiffy Smiffy.
Should make an outstanding trail gun!
Let us know how it shoots.

There were specimens of the 327 and 329 at the SHOT show that had a 6" barrels. Now those were ideal...

I just bought the same gun. It's increadable. Love the trigger work that was done on it. It has a better double than single action pull at 4.3 oz. Cylinder throats are a little tight at .356 so I may ream them out to .357 but I need to test it for accuracy first.

I have a Smith that looks very similar but it is NOT the same. Mine is a 520 (all steel with a titanium cylinder and is an "L" frame) seven shot. I sure do like mine, tho'. It shoots extremely well:

Because of vision problems, I put a Simmons Red Dot sight on mine. It is a tack driver and I suspect that your 327 will be also. These composite barrels have a reputation for good shooters. The 327 should be an excellent field pistol.
