About 20 years ago I was given a large chunk of what I was told was lead. Fast forward to today I actually got around to messing with it. It is a cylinder about 3" in diameter and a foot or so long. All I know is I can't scratch it with a fingernail. It will scratch with a pocketknife. I wonder if it is linotype? How would I tell? I know I am asking you to tell me what I have sight unseen and without any sort of testing, BUT. Then the other thing is I am just casting roundballs with it so as long as they were round I am not too picky. I guess Linotype and Babbitt and other stuff is there a way to tell other than melting it and seeing what temp it melts at?
Thanks.
