With a 1-7/8" barrel, it should be good for burning weeds. And in comparing its price to S&W's equivalent offerings, it would appear to be a weed-burner of value as well.

hmm, maybe a bunch of the 38's will get dumped on the market cheap in chasing after the 357mag.

At 'close encounters' distances I don't see how you could go wrong with a 38 spcl

Speer Gold dot short barrel ammo should work great in that gun. I love it in my 4" GP100. Perfect power level for a .357 defense round. 1150-1200ish fps and the 135 grain bullet weighs 99 grains after expanding 2x diameter, just like they do in the magazines.
