Having a hard time finding actual Chore Boy pot and pan scrubbing pads to use with my nylon brushes to remove leading in gun barrels, I picked up a off brand of "copper" pot scrubbing pads at the local Dollar store. Just to be sure I checked them with a magnet and sure enought they stuck to it firmly. I didn't even open the package so they will be going back to the store. I suggest if you are thinking about giving anything other than original Chore Boy pads a try that you have a magnet in your pocket when going to the store. The package said "Copper" but should of said "Copper Plated" They might of worked OK, but I am not going to try them to find out. The were marked "Made in China", evidently the Chinese don't have to adhere to the same truth in advertizing that we do in the US made products.

Chore Boy pads work better than the Lewis Lead Removers I have used for years, so I though it important to point out that the look-a-likes may not be the same thing and may even damage your fine barrels finish.

I've been using 4/0 steel wool (picked the idea up from Coors Scheutzenfest shooters) for years with no damage. As I've pointed out numerous times before, 4/0 steel wool is what your high dollar gunny smithe uses to polish your bluing. It ain't gonna hurt the barrel.

Yah but if you don't lead your barrels in the first place, you won't need the
chore boy!!!!:bigsmyl2:

I also looked locally for pure copper scouring pads. Everything I found was magnetic. I finally ordered some “deleading wool” from Cylinder and Slide. It looks just like a scouring pad, but it turned out to be magnetic as well.

I don’t know if the steel pads will damage your bore or not, but for me they didn’t remove lead as well as the Lewis Lead Remover or 4/0 steel wool.
