In the quest for a load for a upcoming pig hunt I decided to try the Lee 150 fp 30/30 boolit in the M44 Mosin Nagant.
I have used AA5744 with good results in the x54 in the past, so thats what I used started at 17grns and got these at 20.5. I usually size to .313-314 for this rifle but can only get .3115 out of the Lee mould. These were GCed and lubed with some homemade 40% beeswax 30% parffin 30% allox. Boolit was ACWW.
The groups were nothing to write home about (or take pics of) but stayed inside 6" at 100yrd. The best i usually get from this rifle is about 3.5", so thats not too bad for a softer alloy thats not sized proper. 25 rnds with no leading ought to be enough for a pig hunt.
I am inpressed with the expansion, I had consided making some softpoints but with these results I dont think I need too.

Nice! I have 3 of the Mosins at home (91, 38, 44) and have wanted to give cast a try.

Lyman 314299 sized at .314, .315 if you can get it, checked and lubed with your favorate lube.
16-20 of 2400, 4759, 5744 or 24-30 of 4895

All the above work good in them Mosins
