i know this has been covered for jacked boolits, but haven't found much on cast.

i want to do something different with my '06.

im thinking of using .30 sabots to carry an unlubed cast projectile.

has anybody done similar?

good sabots?

what dia. and velocity?

I remember BullShop JR was doing this awhile ago. I tried but never got really good accuracy.

I never had good luck with the 30-06 sabots aka:accelerators.
Accuracty was terrible. They are designed far 22 caliber 55 grain bullets
Here is another company

Yes Sir we have. With the 30/06 we topped out at 4300 fps. Best accuracy was at 4100 fps. Best average accuracy with 52gn boolits was about 1.5moa at 100 yards.
We found that designs with long ogive past the sabot did not do as well as designs that have little of the nose past the sabot.
The really odd thing is that they do not make round holes in paper but make octigon holes. Must be something to do with the high rotational velocity and dwell time in the paper.
